## Description

Help your WordPress site load faster with local page caching, native lazy loading
and basic cleanup. Built for blogs, business sites and WooCommerce shops, with clear
settings and protection for private sessions.

#### Features

 * Public page caching with exclusions for logged-in visitors and private sessions.
 * WooCommerce protections for cart, checkout and My Account pages.
 * Native WordPress lazy loading for images and iframes.
 * Native inlining of small local stylesheets to reduce separate requests.
 * Optional preload for up to two existing local WOFF2 fonts.
 * Browser-cache rules for Apache/LiteSpeed, with a removal option.
 * Unused-media finder with confirmation and a fresh reference check before deletion.
 * Controlled cache handover: another plugin’s cache file is not replaced automatically.
 * English and Polish admin panel.
 * No account, paid licence, expiry or usage quota for included features.

#### Why PMS Performance Lite?

Start with a focused set of local tools, not an external optimization service. Page
caching and browser-cache rules are off after activation; you decide when to enable
them. Basic optimization is on by default and can be disabled. Font preloads start
empty.

WooCommerce protections are enabled by default. Check custom checkout routes, currency
tools and other personalized content before enabling shared cache. Review unused-
media results and keep backups: references in theme code can be missed.

#### Need more tools?

PMS Performance Pro is a separate commercial plugin with:

 * Local WebP/AVIF and theme-image conversion, where supported by your server.
 * Advanced CSS loading, JavaScript queues and selective delay.
 * Optional local Google Fonts preparation.
 * Automatic home-page cache warming.
 * Performance Guard: settings snapshots, manual restore and basic HTTP checks.

Lite does not contain these paid implementations. Its Pro previews are information,
not locked functional settings. Pro replaces Lite in the same plugin folder; do
not install both alongside one another. See [features and plans](https://pmscripts.com/performance/).

#### Privacy

This WordPress.org version updates through WordPress.org and contains no external
updater or licence manager. Its optimization runs locally, without PMS telemetry,
OpenAI calls or Google Fonts downloads. It does not scan or classify cookies, install
tracking tools or manage visitor consent.

Links to PMScripts.com open our website; they do not install Pro or submit your
page content. Your theme and other plugins may use their own external services.
Read our [privacy policy](https://pmscripts.com/privacy-policy/) and [service terms](https://pmscripts.com/terms-and-payments/).

### Technical Details

 * Small local CSS: up to 16 KiB per file and 32 KiB per page, also subject to WordPress’s
own inlining limit. Cascade order is retained; imports, non-global media conditions,
alternate/RTL styles and integrity-protected delivery remain external. WordPress
   resolves relative asset URLs.
 * Font preloads: up to two existing same-origin WOFF2 files with a shared 512 KiB
budget. No font download, conversion or rewriting. Credentials, external origins
and dynamic query parameters are rejected. Measure FCP/LCP: even a used preload
can compete with the main image.
 * Storage: public HTML and non-executable `settings.json` under `WP_CONTENT_DIR/
cache/pms-performance-lite`. Settings remain in the WordPress database. No licence
keys, credentials or visitor records are stored in that JSON.
 * Cache integration: the bundled `modules/cache/advanced-cache.php` is copied unchanged
to WordPress’s cache drop-in location after explicit enablement. Foreign ownership
is preserved unless an administrator approves takeover after disabling the other
   cache plugin. The previous file’s exact bytes are backed up in the database;
   restoration requires integrity checks.
 * Configuration edits: optional `WP_CACHE` and browser-cache actions touch only
PMS-marked blocks in local `wp-config.php` and `.htaccess`. Symlinks and parent-
directory configurations are not edited. Plugin files need no modification.
 * Rendering: page-cache capture uses WordPress 6.9’s template enhancement lifecycle.
No independent HTML response buffer is opened. Sites opting out still render
but do not populate PMS page cache. When a provider exposes `wordpress_prepare_output`,
storage waits for its final HTML.
 * Header/footer compatibility styles use WordPress’s enqueue API, not completed-
HTML rewriting. Native lazy loading retains WordPress priority decisions and
   author attributes.

## Installation

 1. Install and activate PMS Performance Lite on WordPress 6.9 or later with PHP 7.4
or later. Multisite is not supported.
 2. Open PM Scripts > PMS Performance. Choose English or Polish in the panel.
 3. Back up your site and test changes on staging, especially navigation, forms and
    WooCommerce checkout.
 4. To use page caching, enable it in the Cache tab and use the panel’s action to enable`
    WP_CACHE`. Alternatively, add `define( 'WP_CACHE', true );` to `wp-config.php`
    before WordPress boots.
 5. Clear other caching layers and test public pages, logged-in sessions, cart, checkout
    and consent after changes.

## FAQ

### Is Lite free, and do I need an account?

Yes, included features work without payment, an account or a licence. They have
no expiry or usage quota. A public PMS credit is optional, off by default and removable
without payment.

### Can I use it with another cache plugin or hosting cache?

Use one WordPress page-cache owner at a time. PMS does not automatically replace
another plugin’s cache file. Disable the competing page-cache plugin before an approved
handover. Hosting caches and Cloudflare are separate layers: configure their private-
page exclusions and clear them after changes. Do not assume every combination has
been tested.

### Does it work on Nginx?

Page caching and native optimization do not depend on Apache browser-cache rules,
but your server must permit the required WordPress files and cache storage. Nginx
does not read `.htaccess`; configure static-file browser caching with your host.
The panel provides an example to adapt, not a rule to paste blindly.

### Are cart, checkout and My Account excluded automatically?

The default WooCommerce protections exclude those pages, including their configured
WordPress page paths. Logged-in, authenticated and cookie-bearing requests bypass
shared cache by default. There is a narrow opt-in exception for an explicitly configured
default currency. Check custom routes, geolocation and personalized integrations
before enabling caching.

### How do I clear the cache?

Open PM Scripts > PMS Performance > Cache and select Clear cache. Lite rebuilds
eligible public pages on a normal visit. Clear hosting/CDN caches separately. Automatic
home-page warming is a Pro feature.

### Is it compatible with Elementor and other page builders?

Lite uses WordPress loading APIs rather than blanket image or JavaScript rewriting.
It includes a compatibility option for the Ultimate Addons for Elementor header/
footer stylesheet. Test your builder, forms and dynamic content on staging; compatibility
with every addon or configuration is not guaranteed.

### Will it guarantee a PageSpeed score or cheaper ads?

No. Results depend on your hosting, theme, images and other plugins. Measure before
and after changes. Advertising costs also depend on your campaigns and competition.

### Does Lite convert images or delay JavaScript?

No. WebP/AVIF conversion, advanced CSS processing and JavaScript delay are Pro features.
Lite does not minify CSS, generate critical CSS or remove unused CSS selectors.

### What happens if I replace Pro with Lite?

Replace the full plugin folder through WordPress, rather than overlaying files.
Saved Pro choices cannot activate absent modules. Original images remain available;
existing derivatives are retained to avoid broken cached pages. Clear hosting/CDN
caches too.

### What happens on uninstall?

PMS removes its own settings, cache and intact marked configuration blocks, not
original Media Library files. A backed-up foreign cache file is restored only when
ownership and integrity checks pass. Keep backups before server changes or media
deletion.
